Porting a game engine and handling the suspending.

    Question

  • I am creating a C++ game engine with DirectX 11. At first I am only going to support Windows Desktop but I want to port to Windows Store later. The main problem is how to handle the app suspend and app relaunch. The game engine API can't expose the underlying native platform. Can I just ignore the app suspend and relaunch and let the games restart? How often does a app relaunch anyways/what are the chances of the app being terminated? Finally if I have to implement app relaunch somehow what is the best way to do it? Can I somehow save the entire memory to a file?

    Thanks,

    Philip
