Found a way to delete any registry key you want!!!!!!!!!!! RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Now I appologize, but this is a rather long process, but it works, and that's all that matters to me.

    1. open regedit in admin mode
    2. start at very root key that you will be working in
    3. right click on key and go to permissions
    4. click the advanced tab near the bottom
    5. click the owner tab and change the owner to administrator and hit apply
    6. click the permissions tab and make sure that administrator has full control
if it does not then double click on administrator and check the box under allow that
says full control and hit ok
    7. make your way out clicking on apply and then ok until you have just your reg screen
    8. expand the tree down to the very next key that you will be in and do the same thing with
one exception, after you change the owner and go back to permissions tab click the box
"include inheritable permissions from this object's parent" and click apply

the only other thing that may differ is when you start to get into the super protected keys, here are the steps for changing ones that say access denied

    1. all the keys above an access denied key must be changed as described above
    2. click on the access denied key and click ok on the pop up
    3. right click on the key again and click ok on the pop up
    4. under the "group or user names" section click on add
    5. in the "enter the object names to select" dialog box type "owner" without the quotes and hit
enter, this should take you back to the permissions screen and now under "group or user names" you should see "OWNER RIGHTS"
    6. next click on the advanced tab and repeat steps 5 and 8, at this point there may already be
an "x" in the box next to  "include inheritable permissions from this object's parent" just double
click in the box to remove and replace the "x" and hit apply, now back your way out and click
once on the key you just modified, an arrow to expand the tree further may appear, if it does,
you have to do this all over again, and continue until the tree stops expanding, once it does,
any key in the string that you just altered can be deleted.

Have fun and hit me with any questions.  Thanks for playing.
