NDIS 5 protocol driver certification RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

Would appreciate if someone could confirm or deny the following statement: "there are no WHQL tests for NDIS protocol drivers". And also confirm that this means that an NDIS protocol driver can not obtain WHQL certification and signature.

Reason I'm asking is because our product is an NDIS 5 Protocol Driver and we were investigating WHQL signature. However I've seen quite some threads hinting that this may not be feasible:

    • http://www.ndis.com/ndis-general/ndisinstall/self-signdriver.htm: there are no WHQL tests for NDIS protocol drivers
    • http://microsoft.public.development.device.drivers.dtm.narkive.com/Iz3yqFmS/whql-dtm-submission-test-for-ndis-protocol-driver-on-vista: There are no WHQL tests specifically for NDIS protocol
    • We've also ran HCK testing on our driver but, although the test server was seeing our driver on the client machine, only 2 tests were suggested: System - Sleep and PNP (disable and enable) with IO Before and After (Certification) + TDI filters and LSPs are not allowed. Such a small number of test makes me think that our driver falls into an 'unclassified' category and therefore cannot be certified.

Would highly appreciate if someone could clarify all this.

    Many thanks, best regards.
