Why doesn't Microsoft do anything about all those fraud apps appearing in the WP store? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I keep on reporting apps that

    • violate rules for WP apps, e.g. try to "force" users to vote 5 stars, e.g. with promo codes leading to free in-app items
    • are terribly cheaply made (e.g. website wrappers) and still get many (fake) downloads and good (fake) reviews

These cast a damning light on the whole ecosystem and prevent apps by serious developers from getting the attention they deserve! This is terribly frustrating...

Example: I reported those apps about one week ago and I know others did as well. But nothing happened!

    Please, Microsoft, do something!

Ban them or re-introduce detailed content verification before publishing for new devs.

  • I have reported Microsoft 4 apps having clearly hundreds of FAKE 5 star ratings (NOT ANY app can have >100 five star only ratings without any review comments, not especially in a country where barely is 100 Windows Phone users in total). Microsoft's answer in a nutshell: "We are investigating the issues, but we cannot report you any action/no-action we possibly take or do not take on those apps". Half a year later, those "killer apps" are still available in Store and on top of many best rated apps -lists. Really annoying.
