Device Enrollment Failure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Like many others on this forum, I've been tasked with developing a Windows Phone 8.1 MDM solution for my company. After banging my head for the past few days, Binging (read: Googling) and browsing these forums I've decided I need to reach out.

All summed up, the error I'm trying to resolve is the one detailed on "Line # 29" the Device Enrollment with HRESULT 0x80072F76 (pulled from the device I'm using to test with):

Line # Provider Name Task Name Opcode Name Id Process Event Name Message Cpu ThreadId Message (Field 1) ReturnCode (Field 2) Field 3 Field 4 Count Time (s)
    26           Microsoft-WindowsPhone-Enrollment-API-Provider//win:Info Request Type: ServerDiscovery. HRESULT: 0x00000000 1 3444 ServerDiscovery 0x00000000 1 1.688076296
    27           Microsoft-WindowsPhone-Enrollment-API-Provider//win:Info Request Type: EndpointDiscovery. HRESULT: 0x00000000 1 3444 EndpointDiscovery 0x00000000     1 1.714812740
    28           Microsoft-WindowsPhone-Enrollment-API-Provider//win:Info Request Type: EnrollmentPolicy. HRESULT: 0x00000000 0 3444 EnrollmentPolicy 0x00000000 1 1.752542962

If you need more information for troubleshooting, I would be happy to provide it.

  • error: 0x80072F76, is WININET_E_HEADER_NOT_FOUND...

What headers, and values, are you including in your RequestSecurityTokenResponse message?

Is your server sending a valid content length and not chunking the response message?

  • Checked via grep and message was indeed being chunked. Fixed by specifying the Content-Length HTTP header in my response.

    Thank you for your help.
