Something happened - Windows Developer Preview installation has failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • The dialog box doesn't even say it was unexpected. Just "Something happened" and "Windows developer preview installation has failed"

So, knowing all that information, how do I fix it?

  • Hey there,

Can you clarify when this happens? Does it fail in the middle of the installation process? or at the very beginning? How are you trying to install the Windows Developer Preview, boot from DVD? Btw, can you share out what type of hardware configuration do you have installed, such as the motherboard model and PC type?

    Regards,

    Bobby

  • Same here also.

Hi Bobby, for me it happens when the installation progress is around 30% that is, it fails in the middle of the process. I was trying to install it directly from the Hard disk. And my config is:

    PC Type: Laptop

    Dell XPS 14 L401X

    Intel Core i7 740QM

    4GB DDR3

    500GB 7200RPM (Seagate barracuda)

    2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M

    Please help me. Thanks.

  • Please download another iso file of WDP from the MS site, burn it to make a bootable disk and try the install again. You may also try to make another bootable disk out of the iso you already have. I think you need another disk for a reinstall.
