  • Question

  • Hi,

I have had no luck finding an answer to a question I have and I hope that you all can help me with my question.  I am wondering if it is possible to use the speech recognition to recognize key words that result with a certain action.  In particular, I am wanting to experiment with using keywords to open certain programs.  For example, set a keyword as "Excel" and when spoken, Excel opens on the desktop.  Much like the Kinect on the Xbox, when you say "Play Disc" it starts the game, or "Netflix" and the Netflix application starts.  I appreciate any and all help!  Thanks!

  • Yes, this should be possible with the SDK used in conjunction with the speech platform. Have you taken a look at the "Speech" sample installed by SDK? It should end up at C:\Users\Public\Documents\Microsoft Research KinectSDK Samples\Audio\Speech

    Hope this helps,
