Submitting electron-based app converted with Desktop App Converter to Windows Store RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

we recently converted our electron-based app to appx format using Desktop App Converter. When we try to submit the package to Windows Store we are facing two errors:

1 - Package acceptance validation error: You don't have permissions to specify the following namespaces in the appx manifest file of the package: http://schemas.microsoft.com/appx/manifest/foundation/windows10/restrictedcapabilities

2 - Package acceptance validation error: Your developer account doesn’t have permission to submit apps converted with the Desktop Bridge at this time. https://aka.ms/desktopbridgeforwindowsstore

As for the first error, we set on the package manifest for the app to use the EntryPoint "windows.fullTrustApplication". There are examples on Microsoft GitHub account which uses the same EntryPoint and have the same namespace I'm trying to add.

So I would like to know which EntryPoint I should use if that one is really forbidden.

The second error is pretty clear, but we already submitted the form from Desktop Bridge four times and the only thing they said is that our package is not valid without any more detailed information about it.

May someone give us some insight about how to proceed to be able to submit our app to Windows Store as we already have versions on App Store and Chrome Web Store and we would like to have it on all stores?

    Thank you for your help!

  • Hello,

After the Desktop Bridge team verify your form, the engineer will have you contacted to be worked with. I'm informed that they have contacted you but have never received a response.

But now since you have shared with them all the information and the appx to test, they will move on to test it and to request the unlock permission of your account if every thing is ok, both from a technical and a Store policy point of view.

You can submit your package through Dev Center after you receive the approval email.

If it's helpful, please mark it as answer so that other community could search for it more conveniently.

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

Generally, you just need to submit the form to acquire the permission for your account to publish the Desktop converted app. Afterthat both of the two error should disappear.

So you may contact Dev Center support through your developer account so that they can review your specific package.

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

thanks for your answer. We already got in touch with Dev Center Support, but they said that our issue is that we are receiving an "package type not accepted" error when submitting the desktop bridge form, and not when submitting the package to the store. We already filled the form four times, so we actually have no clue about what we're doing wrong here.

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

According to the error info, what type of package do you send them? How do you generate your package?

You're supposed to follow  Convert an app using the Desktop App Converter to create your package.

Also you may respond to the form email to ask for the specific reason for your error.

    Best regards,

  • Hello,

we were just informed that our package type is invalid without any detailed information about it. We are generating it following the tutorial provided, and when we verify the .appx the report generated don't show any errors at all, so we don't know what else we can do anymore. We also received a confirmation e-mail from Desktop Bridge team, which we already confirmed twice, but we still receive the same errors when we submitting the .appx.

    Thanks.

  • Also, we sent an e-mail to Microsoft Customer Support explaining that we already asked for permission and confirmed the e-mail that Desktop Bridge sent to us to review our form submission. But after that, it's been days since we don't get any helpful answer from them and it just feels like we're being completely ignored here. We are sending mail after mail everyday to Customer Support and on this thread trying to solve this but nothing seem to be working as no one can give us a straightforward answer about what's really wrong here (if there's anything wrong at all!). I'm really sorry about this, but we already have thousands of users on App Store  (who accepted our app in less than 3hours) and Chrome Web Store, and other thousands waiting for a Windows Store version, so it would be really nice if we could solve this once and for all.

    Thanks for your help!

Since the above message is provided by Dev Center support, could you please provide your SR ticket number so that I can retrieve your case from Dev Center support?

The Desktop Bridge team cannot make sure the reason for your "invalid package type" error. Have you sent your package to Desktop Bridge team or Dev Center support? The desktop bridge form doesn’t even take a package as input.  It can be strange if they don't see your package but give you this error.

And by the way, after generating the .appx, you need to make sure that it can be run normally at least.

    Best regards,

  • Hello,

the SR number is SRX1381275529ID. We have not send the package to Desktop Bridge team neither Dev Center Support. We only tried to update it in the Packages section of our app in Windows Store, which gives us the errors I mentioned earlier that should disappear when we submit the request for Desktop Bridge. We already tested our .appx, and it's working fine and also was approved in Desktop App Converter verify option, so I don't know what else we can do as we done everything we were asked for.

    Thanks for your help!
