Person or field not copied to the Target site in variations RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi EveryOne,

we have created a variations sites for 2 languages one is source and other is target. we have created a person/group filed in source and the values which are added in the source were not copied over to target site.Where as all other fields were copied perfectly once the Variation timer jobs are ran.

    Your advice is appreciable.

    Thanks,

    Nag

  • Hi,

    This is By Design.

Variations does not propagate user fields because we expect that the source and target users would be different (e.g. the Contact Person for a page in a subsidiary is often different from the contact person for the source variation of the page in the headquarters office).

    Potential Workarounds:
Since the custom columns that look up to people/groups are not propagated, a potential workaround could be to attach an Event Receiver to the target variation site’s Library and update the target Library with the source’s Owner field after a page propagation.

    Best Regards,

    Lee
