Windows display driver for backlight control RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello! I've started recently digging into Windows drivers model with practical idea (raw theory not fun) to increase pwm frequency of my laptop display. Can You please suggest what WDDM module is responcible for this? Or this is done only by GPU card driver? As I know Intel uses COM object igfxsrvc.CUIPower for this. But I have AMD ryzen with Vega 8... So what SW layer should I use for that?

    Thanks!

  • This is not part of the Windows API.  It is entirely up to the graphics card vendor.  There is no standard.  You will need to contact AMD or their user forums to find out if this adjustment is exposed.

  • Hi Tim!

Thanks for clarify, I was rather hoping that there is some win API to write direct to GPU register (PWM control is part of LVDS/eDp) like ASIO drivers for sound or something like that :)

So, will ask AMD will they allow to manage this :)

    Thanks!
