[Node.js][Mobile Apps] Access tables from insert/read operation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Given the standard node azure mobile table operation in User.js

    table.insert(function (context) {
        context.item.userId = context.user.id;
        return context.execute();
    }

    How would I be able to read records from another table (for example the chat table) before executing context.execute() on my user table. I know the context object has a tables function, but I have no idea how to use it.

  • You can find a sample here that demonstrates how to reference another table (e.g tables("movies")) to perform CRUD operations on that table. In your case, you can access the table via context.tables("chat") in the same way and go from there. Full documentation on the table object and the CRUD operations it exposes can be found here.
