Simulation of Workspace in ADO.NET (ODBC) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there anyway to simulate the functionality of "WORKSPACE" which was used in DAO to be implemented in ADO.NET via ODBC? The concept of "workspace" in DAO allowed for parallel transactions by creating multiple instances of workspaces.

If it's not possible, then was there any reason as to why this functionality was blocked in the later versions of data access models like ADO.NET?

  • The concept of a "Workspace" was specific to Microsoft Access. I'm not exactly sure what functionality you are looking for but in ADO.NET a transaction is typically specific to a Connection (or OdbcConnection if you are using the System.Data.Odbc namespace). You can start a transaction, execute multiple database commands and then either commit or rollback the commands within the transaction.
