DataSet Timeout Increase RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I'm working on a Visual Basic 2005 program that has a DataSet file that links to various tables in our database.  I understand that the default timeout to execute a database stored procedure in the DataSet is 30 seconds.  I was just wondering if/how this can be changed?  One of our customer's databases has grown quite large, and it is causing certain things in the program to timeout.  Do I have to do this in the DataSet itself, or can I set it programmatically so that it can vary?  Ideally, we'd like to have a table in the database with various program settings that we can change on the fly as it becomes necessary.  One of these settings would be the timeout limit for the programs dataset, so we can change it as it becomes necessary without having it hardcoded in the program.
