Cannot find either column "dbo" or the user-defined function or aggregate "dbo.udf_floorMonth", or the name is ambiguous RRS feed

  • Question

  • We recently upgraded from SQL Server 2005 Standard to SQL Server 2008 Enterprise and we have one job that has been running fine before, but then when we migrated to 2008 Enterprise, suddenly the job cannot find this function. I noticed that dbo is not in the logins. I am wondering if adding the dbo login would do the trick and if I have to add it in, what password should I give the dbo? Just wondering also how come dbo did not come in automatically in SQL Server 2008 Enterprise?

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

DBO is a Database User not Server Login.  You don't need to create it. When using dbo.udf_floorMonth, it will most likely be executed against a database.  Look into the Job to see what database it is being executed on.  Your user defined function should be brought over just as well if you did in place upgrade.

    Cheers!
