Bug in Outlook 2016 version 1909: the Inspector.BeforeMinimize and Inspector.BeforeMaximize events don't occur RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

The below provides info for the Microsoft Outlook team and informs for all Outlook developers about the issue found by an Add-in Express customer who has reported that BeforeMinimize and BeforeMaximize events don't occur on an Inspector object. These events must occur as declared at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office/vba/api/outlook.inspector.beforeminimize and https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office/vba/api/outlook.inspector.beforemaximize.

I reproduce this issue using VBA macros. The macros and a video demonstrating the issue are at http://temp.add-in-express.com/support/Outlook2016_Issue_BeforeMinimize_BeforeMaximize_Events_Inspector.zip. The archive contains these files:

    • Outlook2016_Issue_BeforeMinimize_BeforeMaximize_Events_Inspector.pptx
    • clsOutlookInspector.cls
    • Module1.bas

You start with importing Module1.bas and clsOutlookInspector.cls to your VBA project, and compiling the project. To reproduce the issue, create a new inspector window and run Initialize in Module1; you can use the .pptx file to see how I do this. In the Immediate window you see the debug output showing Inspector events occurring while you move, size, activate or deactivate that inspector window.

The bug shows itself as debug records missing for the BeforeMinimize and BeforeMaximize events. In the video, you see how I maximize/minimize the inspector and get no corresponding debug messages.

    I use Outlook Version 1909 Build 12015.20004 Click-to-Run.

If you need any other detail, just ask me.

  • Hello Andrei,

Have you tried opening a support case with Microsoft for your customer? Is there any feedback on the issue so far?
