FSLogix profile container and Office container RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
Does the latest FS profile container include all features for both profile container and office containers?

We have been using Office 365 container for about a year and started to test fslogix profile container for about a mount ago for a test group of users.
When we use both Office 365 container and Profile container two .vhd files are created and stored on the file share for each user.

When I now read about the latest version:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/fslogix/configure-profile-container-tutorial

It says: Profile Container is inclusive of the benefits found in Office Container.

Does this mean that if we upgrade to the latest FSLogix version and run FSLogix Container we get both the profile and Office 365 features?

How do we manage our existing profile and office container vhd files?

    Thanks for any input

  • @Boffen,

What this means is that all the data stored in the Office container is within the user profile. So if you are using Profile containers without Office containers, you are still getting all the benefits, but everything is stored together in the single container. When you add Office containers in addition to Profiles, you get some separation of data, which might be beneficial for your storage situation, since you can put profile data one place and office data another.

The main reason the Office container exists is to add some of the benefits on top of a different profile provider. If you're using FSLogix profiles, you probably don't need the Office containers, though it won't really hurt anything.
