open a closed workbook on a separate Excel instance from the existing open workbook RRS feed

  • I think my question did not register so here it is again

    My code opens a closed workbook from an existing open workbook.  The current method causes problems with the 3rd party security program I use.  Is there a way to open the closed program in a separate Excel instance?  The security company suggested manually opening it in Windows Explorer but I cannot do that as the macro must run continuosly.

    Here is the relevant code

    Thanks

    TestFileExists = Dir(TempFilePath & "\" & NewFileName & FileExtStr, vbNormal)

        'Next section counts the characters in the full path to deteremine if it exists. A count = 0 occurs if the file name
            'does not yet exist & the new Base Year file is then created

    If Len(TestFileExists) = 0 Then
        sFile = TempFilePath & "\" & NewFileName & FileExtStr
        Set wb = ActiveWorkbook
        wb.SaveCopyAs sFile
        Workbooks.Open sFile

        ActiveWorkbook.Save
