SHAREPOINT 2007: copying records using a custom form RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a custom list.  It has pre-populated data on the first half of the form, which is not editable.  The second half of the form has about 10 data fields which need to have the user complete.  All of the records have a unique identifier plus a field called devcode (10). - ie: 2222200

At times there are records where the user would want to copy the same fields to records which are called sub-devcodes.  ie: 2222200, 2222201, 2222202, 2222203

Has anyone ever written a form where they successfully copied what they completed for data entry to another form?  Do you think a workflow is the answer?

    Any ideas welcome.

  • Hi,

I understand that you are using SharePoint 2007, then the form can only be used in a form library. In order to copy the data on a form  to another, you can use SharePoint workflow. In or to use these controls in a SharePoint workflow, you need to add the controls to be columns in the form library during publish process:“The columns listed below will be available in SharePoint sites and Outlook folders”.
