Sharepoint 2010 Linking Word to Excel RRS feed

  • Hello,

    I'm trying to link a Word doc to a Excel doc. I have several tabs in my excel document. Each tab has a graph linked to another excel document (those update and link fine) and then I have content in each tab which is linked from different word docs.

    I'm able to pull in the word documents. However, I am unable to have the excel document update. Meaning that all changes done to the word documents do not feed into excel.

    This has been my process for trying to update everything:

    1. Check out excel - i uncheck the local drafts box
    2. Check out word document - i uncheck the local drafts box
    3. in excel, go to "Prepare" -> "Edit Links to Files"
    4. Select the word document i want to update
    5. Click "Update Values"
    6. Click "Check Status"

    When I do this, nothing updates. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
