Debugging OAL functions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

    i'm trying to change the RTC function on our iMX51 board. I need to read the date/time from external i2c rtc chip.

    I'd like to see the messages from the OAL adding the registry item

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\DebugZones]
       "OAL"=dword:FFFFFF
    but i need them on a Release compilation: is it possible?

  • When you build a retail OS/code, the DEBUGMSG macro is defined to do nothing so those registry settings will have no effect

  • You can use RETAILMSG instead of DEBUGMSG, if you like to work with retail build.

  • Hi,

      actually it's possible to see OAL debug messages under Release build too due to OALMSG() macros is defined everytime (except SHIP building option).
    You should check config.bib file of your BSP (sorry, I haven't yours, I'm reffering to base imx31) and find line like this:
      nk.exe:initialOALLogZones     00000000 0x0000000B       FIXUPVAR

    Check its comments to get details.
