Bring the start of the Gantt to the Status Date RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    Is there a way to ensure the Gantt chart timeframe starts from the Status date?

    I only found an option to show 'Entire Project' or 'Selected Tasks'.

    Thanks,

    Yuval

  • Hi Yuval,

    Are you talking about the buttons available in the "view" ribbon of MS Project? Unfortunately there is no way to use the status date. That being said, the status date should not be too far from the current date (max 1 or 2 weeks).

    Hope this helps,

  • Yes, I am talking about these buttons.

    regarding the Current date, I am also OK with aligning the start of the Gantt view to this date.

    How can I do that? I don't mind using VBA.

    Thanks you,

  • Hi Yuval,

    I can't help you with the VBA, but it would certainly be needed. The 2 buttons we are refering to are tasks oriented (either all tasks, or selected tasks) but not dates oriented. Thus VBA will be required.

    Here is a code sample with the current date that you can start from and adapt with the status date:

    Sub GotoTodayInGantt()

     EditGoTo Date:=Now

    End Sub

    Here is also a blog which détails the procedure to add the macro to a button in the ribbon:

     EditGoTo Date:=Now

    End Sub

    Hope this helps,
