Authentication schemes in LCS ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Wanted to know how it is possible to register with LCS from a SIP client which doesn't support NTLS or Kerbaros authentication schemes ?

Can HTTP Digest Authentication be forced to be used if Authorization header is added in advance in the initial SIP REGISTER request ?

Is LCS interopearble with 3GPP IMS SIP clients ?

    Thanks in advance !!!

  • Hi Deepak,

Here's some info from the LCS team:

    ·          Wanted to know how it is possible to register with LCS from a SIP client which doesn't support NTLS or Kerberos authentication schemes?

This is not possible. NTLM or Kerberos is required to register as an LCS endpoint

    ·          Can HTTP Digest Authentication be forced to be used if Authorization header is added in advance in the initial SIP REGISTER request ?

No. We do not support digest auth.
[MORE: We use Kerberos because SIP Digest is not sufficiently robust.  Security experts agree.]

    ·          Is LCS interoperable with 3GPP IMS SIP clients ?

You need to license our SIP extensions in order to register with LCS. Since very few other clients have done so (Radvision, Polycom, Tandberg) most clients do not interoperate with LCS.
