Get bing video preview working on personal sites? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Bing has recently been scanning my website and has found video content . Which is awesome. But when I do the mouse-over it does not generate the video preview for my content. I'm currently running a WordPress blog which has WEBM, MP4, and finally OGV redundancy for it's video selection using the default HTML5 player. All videos are self-hosted on my own site.

I see the previews working on larger networks like YouTube and NBC but not on some others including my own site.

I'm curious as to how bing goes about making that preview file that appears on larger outlets. Is the bing search engine looking for a preview file that WordPress is simply not generating? Is there a way to specify a sample file for the Bing engine to pick up on? Am I missing a video format bing is expecting?

Or is video previews out of my hands and determined completely by bing if they want to use the mouse-over previews for my self-hosted videos or not?

    Any help is appreciated.
