VBA Web Services in MS Project Server 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Where I work, the administration of MS Project 2010 server is outsourced. And I need to see information such as:

    1. Project;
    2. Assigments;
    3. Tasks;
    4. Resources;
    5. etc..

    Is there any way to access via VBA (Excel) Web Services MS Project Server 2010?

    If yes, could post some examples of how to accomplish?

    This is very important to feed an automatic status report that we are developing.

    Note: SSRS Reports that help is to perform a self-extracting via VBA.

    Thank you,
    Diogo Araujo.

  • Hi Diogo

    it would depend which version of excel are you using if its Excel 2007 then you can use the SOAP toolkit( and but if its Excel 2010 then you may need a VSTO addin in order to consume the web service, the project web service can be accesed here http://Servername/PWA/_vti_bin/PSI/project.asmx?wsdl  similarly the resource and task web services, more examples on what the webservice returnes is contained in the project server SDK,

    On a side note curios to know why would you want the webservice to be consumed in excel and then generate a SSRS report, whereas since SSRS allows you to connect to a webservice, why not just use SSRS to get the data display it and then export it to excel if needed
