How to call MmGetPhysicalMemoryRanges in driver to get memory range??? RRS feed

  • I am writing a driver in which i want the exact range of RAM. I came to know about memmory manager routines inside windows kernel. I am planning to include MmGetPhysicalMemoryRanges routine in my driver also to get memory range.

    i don't know how to add these routines into driver..

    Anyone please tell me how to write this routine??What is its syntax???

  • Well it is undocumented and not for driver use see https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff554435%28v=vs.85%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396  What problem are you really trying to solve with the "exact range of memory"?  Note: there has always been several ranges of memory in Windows back from the days of Windows NT 3.1 onwards.

    If you really need MmGetPhysicalMemoryRanges and realize that it may not work on some systems, or stop working tomorrow, then use Bing and search you can find the documentation of the routine from 15 years ago, whether it works now of not is another question.
