Is there any Printed EULA inside the Visual Studio 2005 Professional Box ?

    Question

  • Hello i was wondering if anyone knows if there is a Printed EULA inside the Visual Studio 2005 Professional retail Box ...  The reason is that i try to buy one box since it is the last version that supports the windows 98 systems.  But is there anyone who can answer to me do you know if there is a Printed EULA inside a retail Box of Visual Studio 2005 Professional for example the box that is labelled  C5E-00001 Visual Studio PRO 2005 WIN32.   The Sales Person told me that MS does not provide printed EULAS anymore i paste the exact words can anyone from Microsoft verify that this is the case ?

"Microsoft changed this behaviour and in the meantime they do not deliver ANY product with printed EULA. It was Windows 2003 Server R2-time when they changed their behaviour: the first R2s came with EULA and then they delivered them without printed EULA (only the CAL-Sheet was still inside)."

CAL seems like EULA as well. In general does anyone know if there is any form of printed license inside a retail Box of Visual Studio 2005 Pro and if there is not what happens ?

  • Hi Mantzouratos Spyridon,

It really has no the VS2005 Printed EULA now, my understanding is that Microsoft doesn't support the old VS2005 product now, so it also has no the EULA even if it had before.

I know that you also asked the old VC 6.0 license issue before, like this question, they are all related to the license, actually the forum support doesn't provide the license issue, if you really want to know more information about it, I sincerely suggest you ask them from the license team, so you could discuss the license issue with the license experts directly.

You can call 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist, and you can get more detail information from there. You can also visit the following site for more information and support on licensing issues:

    http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/mplahome.mspx

Of course, if you have any feedback for the Microsoft products, you could submit the connect report here:

http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/CreateFeedback.aspx,Microsoft engineers will evaluate them seriously.

    Best Regards,

    Jack

  • Hi Mantzouratos Spyridon,

Even if the Microsoft didn't support the old VS2005 product, but I really want to provide you useful information for this issue.

But if possible, would you mind letting us know more information about the "Printed EULA"? I know that EULA means "End User License Agreement", what does the "printed" mean?

Do you mean you want to get the visual studio licensing white paper or others?

The Microsoft official site provided the license white paper for the latest VS2015 or VS2010 version:

Visual studio 2015 licensing White paper

    Visual Studio 2010 Licensing Whitepaper

But for the old VS product like VS2005, it was really old version, it seems have no the white paper now.

If I misunderstood this issue, please feel free to let me know.

    Best Regards,

    Jack

  • You can say the white paper yes the PDF EULA agreement ...

Back in 2003 2002 and classic VS6  there was a nice printed EULA that it also had a Part no.  It was part of the retail Box . I wonder if there is one for VS2005 MS has to be able to provide such because they are the license terms.

Printed EULA is the EULA on paper that was part of the retail boxes apart from that the eula was also inside the CD/DVDs there was also some nice printed EULA that was coming with the box as well and it also had a partno. at the back... the white paper you point me seems to be without partno.  meaning it is not part of some box but it is a document that is unofficial provided by Microsoft.  EULA is not somehting Microsoft can do without the authorization of the state where is that mark that a person can see that this is a verified by the state eula ?

VS2002 2003 2005 2008 etc are all part of the Microsoft Copy Right  agreement that she made with the state... Asking for the license agreement has nothing todo with asking for support.  Support is not asking the License agreement ... The License agreement is a PUBLIC DOCUMENT and the fact that Microsoft does not provide it to the Public is a violation of the Copy Right Law that she has committed to apply with the state.  Remember sir a Patent is registered to the state as well as the copy rights that follow it and the state is responsible to maintain that that means they should be PUBLIC or available on request.  So where can i find those ?

Past and Future no matter should all contain the copy right and eulas available for the public.  Abandoned software that is also available should be able to be available by some vendors if not from the creator used or not used.   iF THERE IS NONE to sell that to the public then we have another violation of the copy right law... and i bet the Lawyers of Microsoft did not know that am not sure if the US Court knows that or even your president BARACK OBAMA and not even most of your world leaders.  Thats what i call LACK of knowledge or Ignorance and Lack of Logic.
