  • Hi Abilash,

I found the following from this post (I think you find this post and blog interesting as it contains a lot info on BizTalk and MQ):

"When it comes to BizTalk and MQ the clean way to integrate both of them is by using an adapter. BizTalk server 2006 comes with 2 different set of adapters to talk to MQ. The default MQSeries adapter which gets installed as part of the normal BizTalk installation and the second one MQSC adapter that comes as part of the “BizTalk Adapters for Host System” package." You will have noticed this too looking at MS website and Ben's post.

"The major difference between the two is the first one can only be used on MQ hosted on windows environment, whereas the second one is used to talk to MQ hosted on windows/non-windows environment. The MQSC adapter is also called as client based adapter because its dependant on IBM MQ’s client API’s. There are two different flavours of MQSC client adapters, the one which supports transaction ? paid license required and the other without transaction ?free no license required (guarantees at-least once delivery, but cannot guarantee duplicate message delivery). Switching between the two types of client adapters is easy via BizTalk Send Port Configuration."

Please also see the below link having good information:

After going these details it seems that you need not to have IBM Websphere MQ client installed on Biztalk Server for MQseries adapter but is required for MQSC adapter

For further details refer to this link:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa705007(v=bts.10).aspx

To use the adapter with the IBM WebSphere MQ Client (Base-Client), you must also have the following software installed:

    ·     Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006.

    ·     Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

    ·     IBM WebSphere MQ Client 5.3 with CSD10, or IBM Websphere MQ Client 6.0 with Fix Pack 6.0.1.1.

  • Thanks for your reply Rohit. In our application we are using MQ Series Adapter. But the above requirements you mentioned is for MQSC Adapter. Whether MQSC Adapter and MQSeries Adapter are the Same? Thanks, Abhilash

  • Thanks Ben.

But we are using MQ Series Adapter to communicate with IBM WebSphere MQ Server (Q manager is set up).

Whether do we require IBM Webspher MQ client(installed in BizTalk Server) to Communicate with the IBM Websphere MQ Server?

    Thanks,

    Abhilash
