The %pathext% environment variable in WDP RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to suggest including .bin and .xml file extensions and getting rid of the .bat;.jse;.vbe and .wsh file extensions for the %pathext% variable for obvious reasons. I can not find any of the last four within any of the %path% directories (In my Windows 7 installation I even have autoexec.nt instead of autoexec.bat which is completely missing in WDP)

I had my %pathext% changed to read as following: .com;.exe;.cmd;.bin;.vbs;.js;.wsf;.xml;.msc and noticed somewhat better performance.

  • XML and BIN file types are not executable. PathEx envvar includes only file types that are considered executable.
