MS Tech Talk: "Freeing up space in a SQL Azure database?"

I’ve noticed that when deleting records from a SQL Azure database the amount of space consumed by the database doesn’t drop immediately. Does SQL Azure take care of defragmenting indices and data within the database to free up pages, or is there something I need to do periodically?

The DBA still needs to do Index maintenance and optimization with SQL Azure. It can take up to 15 minutes until the space is freed from a DELETE/Truncate operation.
