Pulling old version document RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are using SharePoint as our intranet site. And one of the users is having problem opening an excel file. Whenever he opens it is opening the old version of it or the file is not the updated one. Others are able to see the new version, but only in his system it is pulling the old one.

Did anyone else had this problem before?

    Thank you.

  • OK, it would be helpful to have more details about your environment, then:

    • What version of IE?
    • What version of SharePoint?
    • What version of Office?
    • Any differences in his workstation environment Vs. the other users?
    • Have this user log in to another workstation and try to open that document. Is it the updated one or the old one? (If it is the updated one, then the problem is workstation-specific.)
    • What happens if he does a refresh of IE, or gets rid of cookies and temporary internet files?

  • Does he have rights to view drafts? If he doesn't, he'll only see the latest major version of the document. What version is the new document at? (E.g. 1.1, 1.2, etc.)

  • Version history is not maintained for that library. So I think it should'nt be an issue with the drafts or versions.

  • If your document library require content approval, it will keep draft version and latest published version even if you choose not to enable versioning.

Please refer to this thread for more:http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010general/thread/3bdc442b-187f-4356-923c-47f604b1bf17/

  • I see in the library settings, the content approval is set to NO. So there is no approval for submitted items too.
