FolderPicker issue

  • I'm have problem with FolderPicker issue (i'm pretty sure it's bug on MS side).

When you open FolderPicker and select folder Desktop/Libraries/Music, then returned StorageFolder have empty Path property (it's NULL). But when you select Desktop/Computer/C:/Users/<user>/My Music, then everything is fine. In all cases Path should be filled correctly as it's only easy way how to get an info about folder StorageFolder represents.

    Regards, Petr.

  • This is correct behavior: not all folders are part of the file system and those which are not do not have a file system path. In particular, the library folders are not file system directories. They are shell objects which compile multiple directories together. If you drill down into the contained file system directories then those have a path. See Windows Libraries for more information.

  • I see, but have related issue. For picked folders i'm using FutureAccessList class because i need to do some operations with files from selected folders. Because the operations can take some time i need to do them in thread and here's my problem. Because libraries as you said have no Path so i do not know what entry (from FutureAccessList) i should use (for example user selected 10 different folders and libraries). I cannot use StorageFolder i get from picker, because i need it in different thread.
