Crystal Report Out of Memory Exception RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,
I am having a problem with Crystal Reports bound to a dataset (.NET version 1.1). The dataset is very large (~300.000 rows, approx 600 MB) and I have to show the Crystal Report (or print it). I cannot remove any rows or columns from the dataset, it is already compacted (some suggest that I have a smaller dataset but it is not the case).

When loading the Crystal Report, I get an Out Of Memory Exception. Is there any "smart" way I can load the report without failing (for instance paging) ?

    Thanks for your help!

  • We have managed to cut down the size of the dataset to 300 MB, by removing some columns and changing the dataset processing logic. Now we can create the crystal report (~4000 pages) but not always as we are on the edge. We cannot create a smaller dataset, nor a smaller report (the client really wants this that way) so is there a more clever way of creating the crystal report in order to have better chances of not failing?

I would appreciate any help! Thanks in advance!
