Publish multiple videos using one URL in Azure Media Services. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

In my company, we need to show pre-recorded videos on big-screen. The OS on those computers (HP EliteDesk) connected with the monitors are Windows 10. There are total 80 PCs like that.

Using "Sysinternals" Autologon.exe, a domain user logs in and then there is a schedule task (Batch Script) that starts "chrome" in KIOSK mode to show the video hosted from Azure Media Services (AMS).

Now, every-time we upload a new video in AMS, the Playback URL changes and for that we need to change our BAT file in all 80 PCs.

Is there a way that, we will publish new videos on a single URL? In that way; we need not to change the script in the PCs as the URL will remain same.

    Any Azure expert, please help.

  • Hi Kuntal,

Thanks for contacting us. We'd been contacted by a Field Engineer with your case, and have provided her some suggestions on how to proceed. At a high level:

    1. Start by choosing a specific GUID as the LocatorID for streaming the video

    2. When an old video is to be removed, unpublish/delete the streaming locator for that Asset

    3. Publish/create a streaming locator for the new Asset, and force it to use the same LocatorID.

Once she's followed up with you and verified that the proposal works, she can document the solution here.

    Thanks

  • Hello Team,

Thank you for the reply. However, the solution provided, did not work.

    Let me try to explain again;

I have published 1st video and the Play-Back URL is:

    https://hpetv.blob.core.windows.net/asset-7437058d-4d48-48ff-9619-03020ad9284b/TPOT2018.mp4?sv=2015-07-08&sr=c&si=a9300059-9aea-4dc9-a602-a3ce21225473&sig=FgE8OuXY3ZrFPKMzRJ7Pagt6KSQZpRFlAGOszbJ21Iw%3D&st=2018-06-29T15%3A43%3A42Z&se=2118-06-29T15%3A43%3A42Z

Now if I publish the 2nd one it gives following as Play-Back URL:

    https://hpetv.blob.core.windows.net/asset-6f25387b-607c-407f-b966-a41e90560ea0/HPE [720p].mp4?sv=2015-07-08&sr=c&si=47cf5fbd-b3b5-4271-a527-cfef2e8799b3&sig=PDOzSEdBnndKk4QjXsv8ONdIFobOBT%2FiRWl%2FYbaBY70%3D&st=2018-07-04T10%3A16%3A26Z&se=2118-07-04T10%3A16%3A26Z

I want to use the 1st one as my Play-Back URL for the second publish also.

  • Okay, so you are delivering directly from the Azure Storage account via progressive download. I'll ask the forum moderator to redirect to the Storage team

  • Currently, you can't have same URL for two different blobs. If you wish you may leave your feedback here. All the feedback you share in these forums will be monitored and reviewed by the Microsoft engineering teams responsible for building Azure.
