What must be installed or set on a pc, so it can run applications with ADONET data access? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm developing a data converter in VFP 9, and I'm connecting to a paradox (*.db) file.
    It works perfectly on my machine, but I can't get it to work on another pc. I get errors like: "Invalid Operation".
    I tried to enable and disable ODBC user connections on Control Panel, and It stop working on my pc. But I enabled them again, and It didn't work.
    Finally, when I restart Visual FoxPro, everything works again.

    I mean I can't figure it out what makes the Paradox Connection works. I haven't found what must be configured or set to make the connection.

    Here's the code:

        oCon = CREATEOBJECT("ADODB.Connection")
        oCon.Open("Provider=Microsoft.JET.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source="+lcPath+";Extended Properties=Paradox 7.x")
        oRS = oCon.Execute("select * from mytable")    && The error happens here (I always connect to the same table)
        oCA = CREATEOBJECT("CursorAdapter")
        oCA.Alias = lcCursorName
        oCA.DataSourceType = "ADO"
        oCA.ADOcodepage = 850
        oCA.fetchsize = -1

    So I wish to know if someone can explain what must be set to make a adonet connetion work. Is somethin in ODBC connections in control panel?

    Thanks in Advance....
