Hear me out...!
We recently had Exchange 2010 installed alongside our existing 2007 environment (coexistence I guess). User data has not yet been migrated, so it's still sitting on Exchange 2007 mailbox databases.
Here's the dumb question part...
Although I know that Outlook 2016 doesn't work with Exchange 2007, I can't find any information - none whatsoever - on if it works at all in a coexistence environment. So my question is: If a user mailbox is still on 2007, but mail flow is being controlled
by 2010, will Outlook 2016 work or will I still get the "unsupported version of Microsoft Exchange" error?
The reason I ask this unorthodox question is because my boss seems to think that it will work due to Exchange 2010 being able to do some kind of pass-through. I've never heard of this and I doubt it's supported, but I'm no Exchange expert so I wanted some
second opinions.
Thanks in advance!
