Need help for recording the video and take a picture when a certain gesture happen RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am working on a project in c # which need to record the video from the kinect in a 'avi' document  and take a picture when a certain gesture happen.

I try to use the Save option in Coding4Fun, but it make the camera not smooth. Is there any suggestion for these? It would be better if there is a sample. Thanks.

  • Hi,

are you doing two things here.

    i) recording the video

ii) take the photo/snapshot when gesture occurs

For photo/snapshot you can take the print screen (screen shot), the screen part which renders the video. This does not hang up the camera and gives best results.

    Hope this helps !

    Thanks,

    Bharat.

  • Try scotts webcam filter which allows you to take rgb video feed from the kinect. It needs a little work with v1 source but im sure with a little playing around you will get it working. I will have to repost the link here but i think its in the general sdk on first page right now.

  • Heres the link but If you can modify his v1 code and get to work in the link i provided below i show another link from directshow forum about how to correctly code the filter but I believe you require a still pin to take a picture and a seperate pin for the video with the filter:

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/kinectsdk/thread/4ee6e7ca-123d-4838-82b6-e5816bf6529c

It might take a little c++ but the code is organized well and I think it looks like scott might have done something small to mess up the filter and/or the v1 filter might require kinect for windows.
