Sharepoint 2010 calendar workflow RRS feed

  • I need to set up a workflow that allows anyone to add an event to the calendar.  Before adding the event to the calendar it needs to check to see if that time is available.  It needs to add the event as pending and send an email to a group for reject/approval.  Once someone from the group approves/rejects it, it needs to send an email to the requestor stating that.

    I have tried this numerous times in Designer and get pieces to work but never everything or the approvers ens up getting 5-6 emails.

  • Hi ngwood,

    I think you need to create an event receiver to check if the time of the new created or modified event is available or not. Because it is not possible to check the timer, especially when recurrence events exists, from SharePoint Designer workflow.

     Then all you need is to create an approval workflow (Both OOB workflow or Designer workflow is fine.) It will send email to approvers, and get back to requestor once the approval task is completed by default.
