How to trust a network share? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello.

I am running Visual Studio 2005 with .NET version 2.0.50727 on Windows Vista Ultimate x64.  I also have .NET v3 installed.

I have a network share that I map to my Z drive, and I would like to know how to use the .NET tools to allow my Z drive to be trusted.  As it is, I get all kinds of security exceptions when I try to do any kind of development on that drive.

I tried following the caspol.exe directions at the bottom of the page at the following URL, but they apparently didn't work because I still get the runtime security errors.  For the -url option, I used "file://z:/*", which may have been incorrect, but the program accepted it as valid, so I'm not really sure.

The following is the output from running caspol.exe.

    C:\Windows\system32>caspol -q -m -ag LocalIntranet_Zone -url "file://z:/*" FullT
    rust -n "Personal Drive"
Microsoft (R) .NET Framework CasPol 2.0.50727.312
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation.  All rights reserved.

Added union code group with "-url" membership condition to the Machine level.

    Please advise.

    Thank you.
