slow inbound email RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings,

I currently have an Exchange 2013 server setup on a Windows 2012 server as a virtual machine.

I am experiencing a delay in incoming email. An average incoming email time from my personal Gmail account to my Exchange inbox is 3 hours. Outgoing email is 2-3 seconds.

This is a test server which currently has only one mailbox setup. It has 4GIG of memory, 80GIG HDD and 2 CPU. Also, it is setup on Time Warner's residential internet service which means I do not have a static IP address. My external DNS is through Network Solutions.

Is there a way I can speed up my incoming email?

  • Adding extra memory to the VM server did the trick.

After adding 2 more GIGs, my exchange server is running on 6GIGs of memory after which outbound and inbound email flow is smooth without any delays.

I am surprised that I had to add more memory even though I had just one mailbox account setup.
