Kinect v2 Calibration using Checkered Board RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi Everyone;

    I am trying to calibrate the Kinect sensor using the checkered board method so as to get a very precise overlap between the color and depth image.

    I am aware of the fact that the SDK does come with a coordinate mapper function that does that for me but I am interested on how accurate it is.

    So when I do the checkered board method, the only issue that I am having is the fact that the two images (depth n RGB) are not of the same size and its making the "stereo calibration" part tricky.

    By stereo calibration I mean I want to know what is the Rotation and Translation Matrix that maps the color image on the depth image.

    Have anyone tried calibrating the Kinect?

    Thanks;

    Ali

  • Hi there,

    Did you end up cropping the RGB image to get the same aspect ratio as the IR image, then downsampling the RGB image to match the resolution of the IR image?

    Thanks for your feedback!
