Trace telemetry is lost in search tab RRS feed

  • Good morning,

    On our production environment we got some issues and after some investigation it looks like that some trace telemetry is missing in the search overview in the Azure portal. Data-sampling is configured as 100%. Using a test application I can confirm the messages are delivered to Azure. The live metrics tab shows the actual trace telemetry. But I never arrives in the search tab.

    Is the trace telemetry ignored because these are marked as live metrics?
    Or are there other issues on the services side of Application Insights?

  • The first thing I would recommend is to run your search and then click the "Logs" option at the top of the page.

    That will show the query behind the search. That may give you some insight into why the search isn't showing that data. It may also be useful to run your query there directly against the traces table to see if the data is there.

    if that doesn't help, are there any more details you can share about your specific scenario? In particular, it would be helpful to know how you have Application Insights configured and any custom code you are using to send the trace data.
