All Infopath promoted data in library lost - how to repromote them RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a SharePoint 2010 library with Infopath forms, where 8 fields are promoted to columns.

After a cosmetic update of the template, all data from the forms in the library disappeared. Also all Views lost their config.

Data are still in the forms - and by republishing each form, the data gets rebuild in the library. But this changes modified date and user.
Can this be done a smart way by a superuser?

Could the reason for this be a new SharePoint service pack or switching InfoPath versions?

  • Hi,

According to your post, my understanding is that after a cosmetic update of the template, all data from the forms in the library disappeared.

Per my knowleadge, when you are publishing the updated InfoPath Form Template to a SharePoint document library the second time, InfoPath checks if the column with the associated ID already exists. If it does not find the corresponding column, a new column is created in the document library. Any columns that are not associated with any of the InfoPath fields are deleted from the document library.

You need to ensure that an InfoPath form created from an older version of the form template continue to load from the template version which they were created from, while any new form submitted to the library will always use the latest version of the form template.

In addition, you can deactivate the feature "Formname" in the site collection feature list and imediately activate the feature again.
