Does Windows 8 properly respect ICC profiles like a Mac, or still reset constantly.

Question

If it can't use calibrated ICC profiles I will continue ignoring MS software, not buying it, etc. You guys have had it messed up for so long on so many OS versions it's a joke - games, sleep, hibernation resets the color no matter what. Not even 3rd party apps have prevented it. Now I see why photo/video pros use macs.
It doesn't help that metro is utter garbage. If I wanted to use a crappy android/mac os like OS, I'd get a gimp phone or tablet - oh wait I already have one and it doesn't cut it.

Could you explain your problem a bit more?
Is there any specific hardware or software that you have problem with?
What improvement are you expecting?

Hardware/software is completely irrelevant with ICC profiles/color correction/monitor calibration. It's a Windows function, buggered up ever since they put it in many many years ago. Windows of all versions I've tried doesn't respect them, period (I don't know about 8 - why I'm asking). If your pc wakes from sleep, you get a UAC pop up, or with certain games, your corrected color reverts back to default until you manually reset it.
Look for yourself how badly designed the UI is in control panel -> color correction. To set something as default, you have to do the same thing twice basically - google if you want. It's easier to just use a 3rd party program to calibrate and even then, due to the fail of Windows coding, will still reset. Tried using Monitor Calibration Wizard to force a profile but it still doesn't hold either.
If a color profile is set as default, it should STAY LIKE THAT. Right now monitor calibration with ICC profiles is so useless on Windows you might as well just shell out a few grand for a factory-calibrated IPS monitor, or buy into Apple's junk.

Thank you for explaining the issue. Regarding to issue with UAC pop up after the sleep and issue that you have with game is not normal problem with Windows and it could be specific issue with your PC due to hardware (such as graphic) or software(driver , software, etc). It is not normal in Windows.
About issue with UI, if possible could you post some screenshots and explain this using images or do some comparison that what you want.

Hello Dalamar686,
you can read a very lively debate on a similar issue at the following link:

Turns out it was Intel graphic drivers resetting it constantly, found a workaround, but I still need to use Monitor Calibration Wizard to force the profile on games.
My notebook's wide gamut screen has a strong blue tint, so the profile really should not be ignored. By anything.
