Logging Drivers RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to make logging from docker containers available outside of the containers. Facilitating the ELK-stack to store and visualise logs I opt for the GELF logging driver which is supposed to be available for docker (https://docs.docker.com/engine/admin/logging/overview/#/gelf-options).

Unfortunately I receive an error message from docker when selecting this driver. It doesn't seem to be available on windows. As an alternative I tried filebeat to monitor the json.log output in the container working directories on the host. But this approach leads to file locking issues where containers cannot be shut down properly.

What is the proposed way to deliver logfiles from a windows docker container to the ELK stack?

My docker version is v1.12.2-cs2-ws-beta running on Server 2016.
