Summing and Grand Total RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Can you help me get the grand total!? Try as I may, I can't manage to get it using all the obvious functions. I need to grab the grand total (as shown), so I can work with it in other functions (to calc % of grand total, etc). How do I do this!? making the shift from MDX to DAX doesn't seem too bad, but there are the odd simple things I'm struggling to do! So far though, I love what I'm able to do with PowerPivot!

  • I worked out a hack that does the trick, but I'd still be interested to see what you suggest, 'cos I'm probably on totally the wrong track!

  • You may simply use [TotalSales]=SUM(FactAllSales[SalesAmount]). Later, if you have some filters that you do not want to affect the [TotalSales] you maye use =[TotalSales](All(FactAllSales)).
