Capturing DirectX Content? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings,

I would like to capture video footage of a directX video game, is there a way to do this using directshow or some pre-existing library? From what little I was able to find, it seems that one can only capture video from a valid input device such a web cam or a DVcam

FFmpeg for example, offers a way to easily capture X11 video and write it to a file, im basically looking for a way to do this except on Windows and a directX game (if that matters)

    Thanks!

  • There are techniques to do this (hooking the direct3d calls). Look for a tool called "taksi" on SourceForge, which does allow you to capture a DirectX window. The source code is available.
