Mixing anonymous and windows authentication in RIA Domain Service RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have couple of domain services in my Silverlight RIA solution. I am using Windows Authentication and things work good.

Now, I exposed one domain service over SOAP endpoint and I want ONLY this domain service to allow anonymous access. Is there a way to achieve this ?

Enabling both Windows and Anonymous authentication for the app pool in IIS will make site inaccessible outside of the machine hosting IIS.

  • That is a WCF limitation that it only supports one type of authentication at a time. You could move that DomainService into a separate web application on the web server which would allow you to support anonymous authentication only for that DomainService. On the client, you can change the URL to the DomainService through the constructor of the DomainContext.
