Query '' is corrupt in Excel automation RRS feed

  • Question

  • The Query '' is corrupt error is currently being experienced in Excel automation. This problem started occurring after KB4525237 and/or KB4523203 were implemented. When will Microsoft be fixing this issue? Thanks.

  • Well, this is but the latest bug caused by a series of flawed security updates that were released November 12th:

    Access 2010 – KB4484127
    Access 2013 – KB4484119
    Access 2016+ – KB4484113
    Access 2016+ – KB3085368

I asked the Access Dev Team and was assured that these are the only updates causing this issue.

You can read about the entire blunder by reviewing

    https://www.devhut.net/2019/11/14/access-bug-error-3340-query-is-corrupt/

The article includes various workaround and fixes (for certain versions of Access).

The good news is that for most versions fixes are now available you need only update.

The bad news is that if you are running 2010 CTR, 2013 CTR or 2019 you are stuck with one of the options:

  • Base users do not have control of rolling back Microsoft Security updates. So one of the listed options is out. We have been doing the other option - Waiting. However, the question back to you is - How long will we have to wait? In the meantime, I will explore the third option. Thanks.

  • According to MS' official page on the matter, for the versions still without a fix, it should be released December 10th.  Fingers crossed.

  • My original comment was - The Query '' is corrupt error is currently being experienced in Excel automation. This problem started occurring after KB4525237 and/or KB4523203 were implemented.

You referenced 4 Access security patches that do not seem to coincide with the patches I referenced. Is Microsoft working on correcting the issues created in Excel by the 2 patches I referenced? If they are, could I please have those patch references? Thanks.

    Hi Tomas,

Why then did you post your question in an Access-forum, and not in an Excel-forum?
