SP2010 April 2016 CU RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have applied SP2010 April 2016 CU but it shows the FEB 2016 version no "14.0.7166.5000" instead of "14.0.7168.5000".

Is it correct? Can someone please confirm?

    Thank you!

  • Hi

The corresponds to the build number of SharePoint Server 2010 April 2016 CU is "14.0.7168.5000", you can reference to the SharePoint 2010 Build Numbers table:

  • Hi abc67,

The build number of SharePoint 2010 April 2016 CU is 14.0.7168.5000, if the build number of your SharePoint 2010 farm is not 14.0.7168.5000, it shows that you don't patch your farm to April 2016 CU successfully.

After installing April 2016 CU, did you run SharePoint Products Configuration Wizards? If not, please run it. After that, check the build number.

If it also doesn't show 14.0.7168.5000, you can go to CA->System Settings->manage servers in this farm, then check all servers' status.

If there is a server whose status is like "Upgrade Required", you can run the following PowerShell cmdlets using SharePoint Management Shell:

PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures

    Best Regards,

    Wendy

  • Thanks you all for your reply.

Now I did make sure that

    1. I got the April 2016 CU - KB3114995
    2. I ran the PSConfig command as recommended by Wendy. It's successful
    3. Manage servers in the farm says "No Action Required" in status column.
    4. I have done the patching so many times in the past and I never had this kind of issue. The only thing I can think of is, April 2016 CU may not be updating the database schema.
    5. I have done it on two different farms and version no shows FEB 2016 CU and NOT April 2016 CU.

Any help would be highly appreciated!

    Thank you!

  • Hi abc67,

Please go to CA->Upgrade and Migration > Database Status, check if all databases' status shows "No Action Required".

Also re-run SharePoint Products Configuration Wizards, check if there are some errors displaying.

And also I will install April 2016 CU on my SharePoint 2010, if I have any update, I will reply here.

    Best Regards,

    Wendy

  • Hi abc67,

I could reproduce this issue on my SharePoint 2010 when installing April 2016 CU and there are no errors displaying when running SharePoint Products Configuration Wizards.

I went to SQL server and check the configuration database version, and found the version was 14.0.7166.5000.

In SharePoint CA->Manage servers in this farm, the version number is the Configuration database version – it is not a "farm patch level".

It seems that the configuration database schema is not changed in April 2016 CU, so, the version number in CA is not changed to 14.0.7168.5000.
