Can I Safely Increase to the 60 Hertz "Screen refresh rate"? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm Running: Sony Vaio F-Series ... NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M ... Windows 7/64-bit ...

    I'm looking under: Desktop(R-Click) -> Screen Resolution -> Advanced Settings -> Monitor

    There, I have the option of increasing "Screen refresh rate" from 59 Hertz to 60 Hertz. Is there a reason I cannot/should not use the higher refresh rate given the hardware I noted? Probably won't make a huge difference, but I am curious. (I am using the original graphics/video card, i.e., have never installed a new one.)

    Any comments on the refresh rate? Not much of anything said about it in MS's Help. Thanks, Justin in Wisconsin.
